Did you Know Santa can skateboard? well guess what,  this year marks the very first year that Santa goes extreme! Santa took a very brief time out from his duties to help Bordz Skate Shop in Galloway make Christmas a special time for young skaters and parents alike around the South Jersey area this holiday season. Being the first skater to enter Bordz last night Sean Warren (8) of Galloway had eyes as wide as saucers when Santa said “ho-ho-ho, come up and skate with me”. Skateboarders from as far away as Cape may showed up last evening for the first annual Charity Skate with Santa Night. Skateboarders and their families from all over the area were asked to help needy area families and spread holiday cheer by bringing a new unwrapped toy to Bordz Skate shop last evening from 4:30 – 6PM and in return they had the chance to help Santa go extreme, they even got to skate along side Santa on the in store mini skateboard ramp for the entire evening. Skateboarders are stereotyped as “trouble, dirtballs, etc”by most adults, but under all the ripped jeans, tatered tees and beat up shoes lies the hearts of some of the most giving people in the world; KIDS! So Bordz wants to help skaters assist others this holiday season by sponsoring the first annual toy drive for needy families of skaters.

It seems Santa had quite the following with over 16 skaters taking part in the event. Jolly ole’ Santa even took extra time out to take several pictures with the skaters, give away posters and spread his famous holiday cheer so they could put the special holiday event into their memories for years to come. It was really amazing to me as a skateboarder that after several centuries of working, St. Nick really could skateboard, he ripped much to everyones’ surprise at the event. I can also report to everyone that Santa DID NOT fall even once, so kids Santa will be on time this Christmas eve! I bet he feels a bit sore, but great after the skate session he had last night with the kids.

Thanks to all the skaters and families who attended the event, Bordz has already been able to start off the Holiday toy drive with over $150 dollars in toys and clothes for our families in need. Bordz will be assisting a local Absecon family with their holiday needs so their three children can have a happier Holiday season. Their son who is 6 years old has said to mommy that he wishes to become a skateboarder some day, perhaps Bordz and our local families can help make that wish come true?
